I'm Catherine Breed and I'm swimming 900 miles down the California coastline from Oregon to Mexico through some of the most dangerous waters in the world. This never-before-done stage swim raises funds for Sea Dreamers, empowering women and girls to get into the ocean and protect our coastline — because when you fall in love with something, you fight to protect it.

The Big Journey

This summer, endurance athlete Catherine Breed will attempt the first-ever staged swim of the California coastline—covering approximately 900 miles from the Oregon border to Mexico.

More than an athletic challenge, Swim California is a storytelling expedition designed to highlight the communities, ecosystems, and people that make California's coast extraordinary.

"Swim California is my love letter to the coast. I hope we tell its story well, I hope we are brave in the attempt, and I hope we finish this journey as changed people." — Catherine Breed

Adventure & Endurance

Some adventures are measured in miles. Others are measured in courage.

Catherine Breed is currently attempting Swim California, a first-of-its-kind 900-mile open-water expedition along the California coast. Over nearly four months, she will face changing weather, cold water, remote coastlines, and the unknown.

"Grit is my superpower but you cannot do hard things alone. I am surrounded by some of the best humans in the world to help me make this swim a reality." — Catherine Breed
